In the past when it came to self hosted cold staking nodes, Ghost users would spin up a new node through their own virtual private server using the protocol called Ghostman. With Ghostman, users are able to manage their wallet and the core through this service. During a troubleshooting analysis we saw that some users often found it a bit difficult and time consuming to maintain this protocol.
Due to the complications observed with ghostman, one of our core developers, Tuxprint, got to work on developing an entirely new self hosted cold staking node written entirely in Python. We are very pleased to announce and release this new protocol called GhostVault. Ghost users can download the management interface here: https://github.com/ghost-coin/GhostVault.
GhostVault is a tool for setting up and managing a coldstaking node. The automated setup makes getting your node going easy and with minimal user involvement. Once setup, automated systems process payments for anon mode, check for and apply updates to ghostd, as well as itself. GhostVault also has various tools for monitoring the health of the staking node. It also makes it easy to make any changes to the reward address at any time and will launch ghostd on reboot, and start staking automatically without the need for intervention.
Before GhostVault, it was impossible for users to stake their coins while also remaining anonymous. This new protocol however, brings yet another monumental roadmap deliverable to completion, Anonymous Staking. Through the use of GhostVault, users will be able to anonymously stake their coins and never have to worry about privacy again. In the private blockchain sector, this is a huge technological breakthrough made only possible in connection with the previous anonymous transactions update.
For new users of GhostVault, there is a guide attached to the README.md on how to properly set up the protocol. In the coming days we will also release other guides step-by-step on how to set up your new anonymous cold staking node. Stay tuned!
